The Unspoken Brotherhood of Bikers: A Lesson from My Son

“Amma, you know why bikers always prefer to ride in groups?” my son asked me the other day.

I paused. I had seen it before, bikers riding together, moving as one, but I had never really thought about why.

“It’s not just about company. It’s about security. On long rides, if one bike breaks down, the group has your back. If you’re lost, they help you find the way. There’s safety in numbers. That’s why even strangers on the road become like family.”

That hit me.

Biking is not just about the machine or the ride. It’s about the trust, the bond, and the silent understanding between people who share the road together.

🔹 Bikers don’t ride alone, they belong to a pack.
🔹 They look out for each other, no questions asked.
🔹 They find safety in the group, and adventure in the journey.

Last week, we met a biking group near ‘Nandi Hills’ outskirts of Bangalore. Watching them gear up and take off reminded me of the riders I’d seen in Ooty, sipping chai at roadside shacks, fixing each other’s bikes, swapping stories of rain-soaked rides and breakdowns in the middle of nowhere.

The best part? More women, more first-time riders, more solo travelers are now part of this movement.

For me, seeing my son talk about his passion fills me with nostalgia, positivity, and purpose.

Because biking isn’t just about the road ahead

It’s about the people who ride it with you.
